A delegation of 42 Canadian tour operators and travel writers recently traveled to China with China National Tourist Office and cosponsors of Air China, Air Canada and China Eastern Airlines to attend China International Travel Mart 2009 and The group of 29 guests also visited Kaifeng , Longmen Grottoes and Shaolin Temple as Henan Fam. |
China International Travel Mart 2009 was held at Kunming International Convention & Exhibition Center from November 19 to 22 in Kunming, Yunnan. Canadian tour operators invited by China National Tourist Office in CITM 2009 (Toronto office)
CITM is an annual event that is held in Shanghai and Kunming alternatively. As the largest professional travel mart in Asia, CITM has drawn the attention of people in the tourism industry worldwide. Participants in CITM come from all sectors of the travel industry including international and domestic tourist organizations, travel agencies, hotels, airlines and related travel companies. The CITM 2009 covered an area of 50,000 sq m and consisted of 2148 exhibition booths are operated by 3948 exhibition organizations from 94 countries and regions, and 67,000 persons had been received during the event. All together 6456 contracts were signed, with 10,400 letters of intent reached; touring groups with traveling intents reached 1.49 million persons with 12.85 million copies of propaganda leaflets dispatched.
The themed night during CITM 2009
The dinner was themed "China Tourism Night for Expo 2010" and hosted approximately 1000 oversea buyers of the media and tour operators during the event.
On the evening of November 19th, Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center featured brilliantly-decorated lanterns. In the song and dance performances with rich ethnic charms and modern styles, nearly a thousand buyers, who attended China International Travel Mart 2009, enjoyed a happy get-together there and jointly appreciated the big feast of "China Tourism Night for Expo 2010" hosted by China National Tourism Administration.
The World Expo 2010 will be held in Shanghai, China from May 1 to October 31, 2010. With its theme "Better City, Better Life," the Shanghai World Expo is the country's second world pageant after the Beijing Olympics. The Expo is a great event showcasing human civilization achievement, and every World Expo has become an important station witnessing human civilization. World Expo promotes a wide range of international exchanges at a global scale, provides opportunity and stages for countries around the world to expand their horizons and display them, and effectively further cooperation and exchange between the participating countries and regions for the tourism industry. By then, 242 countries and international organizations have confirmed to participate in World Expo 2010, 70 million visitors , including 3.5 million overseas visitors, are expected to the Expo site during the 184-day Expo-period. It can be said the hosting of World Expo 2010 Shanghai is not only an important development opportunity for China's tourism industry, but also the new vitality for the development of global tourism.
