Celebrating Canada-China Tourism Day in the 1000 Islands |
Chairman of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) Shao Qiwei and his delegation of tourism department leaders, plus 44 tour operators from across China visited Thousand Islands in June 23, 2010. Mayor Frank Kinsella of the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands (TLTI ) had 1,000 welcomes for the Chinese delegation that visited Wednesday as TLTI declared the day Canada-China Tourism Day in the 1000 Islands. |


In a ceremony held at the Glen House Resort, the declaration of Canada-China Tourism Day was celebrated by dignitaries Michael Chan, Ontario Minister of Tourism and Culture; MP Gord Brown; and local mayors who were in attendance. To highlight the visit, the Mayor of TLTI presented Chairman Shao Quwei, chairman of the China National Tourism Administration, with an honourary membership to the Canadian 1000 Islands. Chairman Shao’s visit to TLTI reinforced the support and cooperation that has formed Chinese and Canadian Friendship and culture exchange, it is also give TLTI the opportunity to showcase the natural beauty and tourism resources of the 1000 Islands region to a significant tourist market in China. |
